His pacing is *deliberate*—lingering on phrases like ‘a great cloud of witnesses’ (12:1) until you can practically see the stadium of saints cheering you on, then clipping through genealogies with the efficiency of a man who knows you’ve got laundry to fold. The lack of musical scoring or sound effects is a masterstroke; it forces you to engage with the text’s own rhythm, which Glyn highlights with surgical precision. When he voices the ‘it is finished’ of Christ’s sacrifice (10:14), the quiet that follows isn’t empty—it’s loaded. That said, this isn’t perfect. Glyn’s occasional breathiness on longer sentences can make complex theological runs (like the Melchizedek deep dive in Chapter 7) harder to parse on first listen. And while his emotional restraint serves the material well, I wished for more variation in tone during the triumphant sections—like the ‘let us run with endurance’ climax—which could’ve soared higher with a touch more vocal energy. Still, these are quibbles. The real achievement here is how *present* the text becomes. Listening in traffic, I found myself gripping the wheel during the warnings about ‘falling away’ (6:4-6), not because Glyn hammers them, but because he lets the words do the work. For a 2,000-year-old letter, that’s no small feat.
