How to Cancel Your Audible Subscription

Thinking about cancelling your Audible membership? This step-by-step guide walks you through the process on every device, plus important things to know before you cancel.

Before You Cancel

Here are a few things to consider before cancelling:

  • Keep your credits: Use any unused credits before cancelling, as you will lose them when your membership ends.
  • Keep your books: Any audiobooks you purchased or used credits on are yours to keep forever, even after cancellation.
  • Pause instead: Audible offers a "Pause Membership" option (1-3 months) if you just need a break. Your credits are preserved during the pause.
  • Switch plans: Consider downgrading to a cheaper plan (e.g., $7.95/month for 1 credit) instead of cancelling entirely.

Cancel on Desktop (Web Browser)

  1. Go to Audible.com and sign in
  2. Hover over your name at the top right and click Account Details
  3. Under "Membership details", click Cancel membership
  4. Follow the prompts — Audible may offer a discounted rate or pause option
  5. Click Continue cancelling to confirm
  6. You will receive a confirmation email

Cancel on iOS (iPhone / iPad)

If you subscribed through the Audible iOS app, you must cancel through Apple:

  1. Open Settings on your device
  2. Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions
  3. Find and tap Audible
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

Cancel on Android

If you subscribed through the Google Play Store:

What Happens After Cancellation?

  • Your membership ends at the end of your current billing period
  • All purchased audiobooks remain in your library permanently
  • Unused credits are forfeited
  • You can still buy audiobooks at regular price without a membership
  • You can rejoin at any time

Alternative: Pause Your Membership

If you just need a temporary break, Audible allows you to pause your membership for 1, 2, or 3 months. During the pause:

  • No monthly charge
  • No new credits
  • Your unused credits are preserved
  • You still have access to your library

To pause, go to Account Details → Membership → Pause Membership.
