Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I found myself fully immersed in the world of 1949, thanks in large part to Mil Nicholson's engaging narration. His portrayal of Ursula Halloran, in particular, is a standout – I appreciated the way he conveyed her quiet strength and determination through his tone and pacing. Llywelyn's writing is, as always, meticulously researched and deeply engaging; I loved the way he wove together historical events and personal stories to create a rich, nuanced portrait of a nation in flux. My only quibble is that, at times, the supporting characters felt a bit one-dimensional; I would have loved to see more depth and development in some of the secondary roles. Nonetheless, 1949 is a compelling, engaging listen that earns its place alongside the best of historical fiction.
