A Play for Love

I went into *A Play for Love* expecting a fluffy, forgettable rom-com, but Pucci’s sharp dialogue and layered characters turned it into a binge-worthy escape. Jesse Vilinsky and Stephen Dexter’s narration is a dream team—Vilinsky nails Lennon’s sharp, sarcastic wit with just the right edge of vulnerability, while Dexter’s Marco oozes smug charm that somehow still feels endearing. The production is crisp, with seamless cuts between scenes and a sound design that subtly underscores the tension in key moments. That said, the third act drags slightly, with a few too many secondary conflicts diluting the momentum. Marco’s ex, a one-dimensional villainess, also feels like a caricature, and her presence undercuts what’s otherwise a refreshing take on second-chance romance. Still, the payoff—especially the final act’s twist—is worth the minor hiccups. If you’re a fan of rom-coms with bite, *A Play for Love* is a front-row seat to a love story that’s as messy as it is satisfying.
