I’ll admit: I approached *All Grace* skeptical. Another book about divine will? But within 20 minutes, Lake had me scribbling notes like a student cramming for an exam on the meaning of life. Her framing of grace as a *neutral* force—not inherently kind or cruel, just *relentless*—flipped a switch in my brain. It’s the spiritual equivalent of learning gravity isn’t personal; it just *is*. Kennedy’s narration is the perfect vessel for this: his pacing is deliberate, almost meditative, but never sleepy. He treats Lake’s paradoxes (like “surrender isn’t passive; it’s the most active thing you’ll ever do”) with the weight they deserve, pausing just enough to let the contradictions sink in. That said, this isn’t a cozy listen. Lake’s insistence on detachment can feel *brutal* at times—she doesn’t coddle, and if you’re looking for warm reassurances, you’ll leave disappointed. The production is clean but minimalist; no music, no frills, just Kennedy’s voice and Lake’s words. That sparseness works *most* of the time, though I wished for a slight uptick in energy during the book’s more abstract sections (the chapter on “divine timing” dragged a bit in audio form). Still, the payoff is worth it. This is the rare spiritual book that doesn’t ask you to *believe*—just to *notice*. And in a genre drowning in toxic positivity, that’s revolutionary.
