About This Audiobook

Matt de la Peña’s *Amor* isn’t your typical bedtime story—it’s a tiny, luminous poem that feels like a hug. Over just four minutes, this picture book unfurls a definition of love that’s tactile, universal, and quietly revolutionary. The text doesn’t sermonize or over-explain; instead, it trusts the listener to feel the weight of a parent’s hand on a fevered brow, the warmth of a shared meal, the quiet pride in a child’s first attempt. The Spanish-language narration by Alberto Santillán turns these sparse, poetic lines into something resembling a lullaby, his velvety voice dropping like a kiss on each syllable. What makes this audiobook stand out isn’t just its brevity—it’s the way it leaves room for listeners to inject their own memories into the silence between words.

Editor's Review

AudioBook Atlas

I’ll admit, I was skeptical about a four-minute audiobook for kids. How much could possibly be said in so little time? But *Amor* proves that sometimes, less is everything. Alberto Santillán’s narration is the star here—a smooth, rhythmic cadence that makes even the simplest phrases feel sacred. My favorite moment was his delivery of *“El sonido de sus voces es amor”*—he lingers on *“voces”* just long enough to make you hear your own loved ones. That said, the production has one nitpick: the audiobed of soft percussion occasionally swells too loudly, threatening to drown out the tender moments. Still, it’s a minor quibble in an otherwise flawless performance. The real magic is in the writing: de la Peña captures love not as a grand gesture but as a series of small, ordinary miracles. By the end, I was blinking back tears—not because the story was sad, but because it reminded me why these small moments matter. It’s a masterclass in economy, and Santillán sells every word.
