I was hooked from the moment Samantha's life took a dramatic turn, thanks to her feathered friend. Williams' storytelling is masterful, weaving together suspense, romance, and a dash of the paranormal in a way that feels fresh and engaging. Pope's narration is a standout feature of this audiobook. Her ability to convey emotion, from Samantha's determination to her growing affection for her unexpected ally, is truly impressive. The pacing is spot-on, building tension and anticipation until the thrilling climax. However, I must admit, I found the resolution of one subplot a tad too neat. Nevertheless, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding listen.
