He balances the tonal whiplash of Middle Eastern folklore with a modern kid’s voice so naturally that the shift between mythic grandeur and streetwise banter never feels jarring. That said, the middle act drags slightly; the first half races along with Bashir’s reluctant heroism, but the climax stalls under a few too many expositional detours about the jinn’s backstory. Still, the production is immaculate—crisp audio, no muffled dialogue—and the emotional payoff when Bashir finally faces his fears outright is worth the wait.
