I devoured 'Beast' in a single listening session, and I'm not ashamed to admit I was hooked from the first chapter. Shedlock's gruff, no-nonsense voice is the perfect match for our brooding hero, while Field brings a warmth and vulnerability to the heroine that had me cheering for her from the start. The pacing is spot-on, balancing intense, steamy moments with quieter, more introspective scenes. My only critique? I wish there was more of the secondary characters' stories - they're so well-drawn, I found myself wanting more. But that's a small complaint in an otherwise fantastic listen. If you're looking for a romance that's equal parts sweet and steamy, with a dash of grit, 'Beast' is your perfect match.
