Bedtime Stories

I tested *Bedtime Stories* with my 5-year-old, who usually demands *one more story* before lights-out. Deavers’ narration hooked her immediately—her portrayal of a fox with a stutter is pure gold, and the way she slows down at the end of each tale mimics the natural wind-down of bedtime itself. The stories themselves are a delightful mix of whimsy and mild chaos: a turtle learns patience, a rabbit outsmarts a bully, and a garden of flowers teaches the value of teamwork. The production is top-tier, with no muffled sounds or distracting background noise, just Deavers’ voice floating through the speaker like a parent reading aloud. If I have one critique, it’s that the collection feels a tad short—21 minutes barely scratches the surface of what could be a full bedtime routine staple. Also, the last story ends abruptly, almost as if the narrator was too tired to finish (which, in a way, made it funnier). For parents tired of the same old lullabies, this is a fresh, heartwarming alternative that makes bedtime something to look forward to.
