Beyond Reality

I’ll admit, I was skeptical going into *Beyond Reality*, but Cassandra Arnold’s narration won me over before I even hit play. Her voice has this hypnotic quality—clear and measured, like a therapist guiding you through a session, but with an undercurrent of intrigue that makes you lean in closer. The case studies are the real draw here. One story in particular, about a client who described a parallel universe where humanity was wiped out by a solar flare in the 1980s, stuck with me for days. The details were so specific that I found myself Googling solar activity from that era just to check. Arnold’s delivery of this segment was masterful; her voice never wavered, even as the story veered into territory that felt like it belonged in a horror movie. That said, the audiobook’s brevity is both a strength and a weakness. At just under two hours, it moves fast, which is great for keeping attention, but some stories feel rushed, especially when Kaehr glosses over moments where the client’s trauma or confusion might warrant more exploration. A couple of times, I wanted to hit pause and dig deeper myself. The production is clean, with no distracting background noise, but the singularity of Arnold’s performance means there’s no variety to signal shifts between stories—everything blends together after a while. Still, if you’re looking for a bite-sized intro to the occult that prioritizes real accounts over wild speculation, this is a solid pick. Just don’t expect it to satisfy a deep dive into the subject.
