I’ll admit: I rolled my eyes when I saw *another* book about ‘the internet’s impact.’ But *Click with Caution* disarmed me in the first ten minutes. Kier doesn’t waste time rehashing Facebook scandals or Elon Musk’s latest stunt. Instead, they zoom in on the *mechanics* of how platforms exploit our psychology—the way ‘infinite feed’ design mimics slot machines, or how ‘personalization’ is just a polite term for manipulation. The chapter on attention spans had me pausing to check my own screen time (spoiler: I failed). Plaushin’s narration is a masterclass in balancing intellect and accessibility. His timing is impeccable, lingering on Kier’s most damning lines like a prosecutor dropping evidence. That said, the production isn’t flawless: a few edits feel abrupt, and the lack of musical transitions between sections can make the pacing feel *too* relentless at times. And while Kier’s critiques are razor-sharp, I wished for more solutions—even bleak ones—beyond ‘log off and touch grass.’ Still, this is the rare tech audiobook that’s as entertaining as it is enraging. If you’ve ever felt like your phone is gaslighting you, this is your validation—and your wake-up call.
