The story’s strength lies in its refusal to soften edges. Aya isn’t ‘feisty��; she’s legitimately furious, and the audiobook doesn’t ask you to like her—just to understand why she’d rather burn her life down than admit she’s still in love. That said, the brevity works against it in one key way: the secondary characters feel like sketches. Nash’s brother, for instance, gets a single defining trait (the ‘loyal sibling’ bit) and vanishes. And while the chemistry between leads is electric, the resolution hinges on a emotional 180 that—fair warning—might feel rushed if you’re not fully invested in their pain.
