Crickets

I've listened to my fair share of alien invasion stories, but Crickets is a standout. Dietz's writing is lean and mean, with a no-nonsense approach that's perfect for audio. Hastings' narration is spot-on, capturing the weariness and determination of Carter as he unravels the town's grim fate. The pacing is masterful, with just enough detail to paint a vivid picture without bogging down the story. My only critique is that some of the dialogue can feel a bit stilted, but it's a minor quibble in an otherwise excellent listen. The production is top-notch, with sound effects that truly immerse you in the story. If you're a fan of horror that's more atmospheric than gory, and science fiction that's more thought-provoking than action-packed, Crickets is a must-listen.
