About This Audiobook

Fyodor Dostoyevsky's timeless masterpiece, Crime and Punishment, gets a gripping audiobook treatment with Alan Munro's narration. This 25-hour production brings to life the tormented mind of Raskolnikov, a young man who commits a heinous crime and grapples with the consequences. Munro's steady, measured pace perfectly captures the novel's philosophical and psychological complexities.

The Trout Lake Media Edition stands out for its clear, well-balanced production, allowing listeners to fully immerse themselves in Dostoyevsky's dense, 19th-century prose. Editor's Review ★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I devoured Crime and Punishment in just a few sittings, drawn in by Alan Munro's understated yet effective narration. He brings a sense of gravitas to Raskolnikov's inner turmoil, conveying the character's intellectual arrogance and emotional vulnerability. The pacing is deliberate, mirroring the novel's thoughtful, introspective nature. One minor quibble: some of the supporting characters feel slightly underdeveloped, but this is largely a faithful adaptation. My only other criticism is that the audiobook could benefit from a more nuanced handling of the novel's abrupt tonal shifts – at times, the narration feels a tad too straightforward. Nonetheless, this is a superb production that will resonate with listeners who appreciate literary classics and psychological thrillers.
