I went into Darker Days with high expectations, and this audiobook exceeded them in every way. Teri Schnaubelt's narration is top-notch, perfectly capturing the eerie atmosphere and emotional nuances of the story. Her voice is both soothing and unnerving, much like the characters themselves. One thing that initially threw me off was the lack of clear protagonists – it's not until nearly halfway through the book that the story begins to coalesce around a central figure. However, this ambiguity ultimately worked in the story's favor, allowing me to become fully immersed in the family's dark world. The pacing is deliberate and measured, building towards a stunning conclusion that will leave listeners on the edge of their seats. My only criticism is that the audio production occasionally suffers from a touch of static, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise exemplary audiobook.
