Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

As I listened to Deadline, I found myself completely swept up in the world of the Midlands. Justin Thomas James' narration is a huge part of that, as he brings a sense of urgency and energy to the story that's simply infectious. One of the things that really stood out to me was the way James handled the supporting cast - the various rebels, pirates, and spymasters that drive the plot forward are all distinct and well-developed, and James gives each one a unique voice that makes them feel truly alive. That being said, I did find the pacing to be a bit uneven at times. There are moments where the story feels like it's rushing headlong towards a climax, and then suddenly slows down to a crawl as the narrator takes a moment to describe a detail or two. It's a minor quibble, but it does help to break up the tension and keep things feeling fresh. Overall, though, Deadline is a real thrill ride - if you're a fan of high-octane fantasy or espionage stories, this one's definitely worth checking out.
