I went into *Detour* expecting a fluffy rom-com, but what I got was a sharply written, narratively tight story that made me laugh out loud while also surprising me with its emotional punch. His Trent is all slick charm and barely concealed arrogance, but Clarke sells the humor without letting the character feel like a one-note joke. That said, the pacing stumbles slightly in the middle act—there’s a detour (pun intended) into a subplot that feels like it’s padding the runtime.
