That said, the audiobook isn’t flawless. The pacing stumbles in the middle, where procedural details about rescue logistics occasionally bog down the emotional throughline. And while Sleeker’s restrained delivery works for 90% of the material, there are moments—like Dinky’s first tentative steps toward trust—where a touch more vocal warmth might’ve deepened the impact. Still, the production shines in its subtlety: the clink of a halter chain in the background, the distant whinny that cuts off abruptly.
