About This Audiobook

Christina Lauren strikes again with *Dirty Rowdy Thing*, a sequel that’s equal parts messy and magnetic. If you loved the enemies-to-lovers tension in *Sweet Filthy Boy*, Harlow and Finn’s story cranks it up to eleven with a marriage they immediately regret—followed by a decade of unresolved chemistry that refuses to sit still. This isn’t just a romance; it’s a study in how two people can hate each other’s guts while being helplessly drawn to the same bed. The banter is razor-sharp, the hookups are explosive (sometimes literally), and the emotional stakes hit hard when old flames refuse to stay buried.

Listen closely, though: the real star here is the narration. Shayna Thibodeaux and Sebastian York deliver a performance that crackles with chemistry, their voices bouncing off each other like live wires. Thibodeaux’s Harlow is a riot—sassy, vulnerable, and unapologetically horny—while York’s Finn is all smug arrogance and hidden depth. Their timing is impeccable, selling both the humor and the heat with precision. The production keeps the energy high, making it impossible to pause the audiobook, even when the story meanders into melodrama.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Dirty Rowdy Thing* expecting another lighthearted rom-com, but Christina Lauren delivered something grittier and far more addictive. The premise—a marriage that lasts twelve hours before imploding, followed by years of tension—is ripe for chaos, and the authors lean into it hard. Harlow and Finn’s dynamic is a masterclass in push-and-pull: their verbal sparring is so sharp it could cut glass, and their physical chemistry is off the charts. That said, the plot occasionally stumbles under the weight of its own dramatics, especially in the third act, where emotions feel manufactured rather than earned. The narration elevates this from a solid rom-com to a full-bodied audio experience. Thibodeaux’s Harlow is a standout—her delivery of the protagonist’s inner monologues (read: self-deprecating rants about her dick of an ex) is hilarious and heartfelt. York nails Finn’s smarmy exterior but lets just enough vulnerability peek through to make him compelling. My only complaint? The audio production occasionally swallows half of York’s dialogue in the louder scenes, which is distracting in a story that’s already *very* loud. Still, the chemistry between the narrators is undeniable, and by the time the epilogue rolls around, you’ll be rooting for these two like you’ve known them forever.
