About This Audiobook

Lisa Suzanne’s *End Game* isn’t your run-of-the-mill sports romance—it’s a raw, emotionally charged story about second chances, both on and off the field. Set against the gritty backdrop of minor-league hockey, the novel follows our unnamed heroine as she navigates the fallout of a career-ending injury and the complicated reentry into a world she thought she’d left behind. Luke, the infuriatingly closed-off defenseman she’s paired with for a charity event, is a man of few words but even fewer apologies, and their chemistry crackles with tension that’s equal parts combustible and heartbreaking. Suzanne’s writing is sharp, her dialogue snappy, and her knack for placing you right in the stands, the locker room, and the late-night diners where these characters hash out their lives is masterful. If you’ve ever fallen for a grumpy, emotionally unavailable athlete (or just love a heroine who refuses to play by the rules), this one’s for you.

The audiobook elevates the experience even further. Summer Roberts’ narration is a standout—her delivery of Luke’s gruff, guarded voice is so convincing it’s like he’s stepping out of the page, and her ability to shift between the protagonist’s vulnerability and her biting wit keeps the listening experience dynamic. The pacing hits the sweet spot: enough urgency to keep you hooked during high-stakes moments, but with enough breathing room to savor the quieter, more introspective scenes. If you’re looking for a romance that’s as much about healing as it is about heat, this is the audiobook to add to your queue.

Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *End Game* expecting a typical sports romance with a predictable trajectory, but Lisa Suzanne delivered something far more layered and satisfying. Roberts’ narration is the real star here—her voicing of Luke’s gruff, closed-off demeanor made his emotional walls feel tangible, and her ability to convey the protagonist’s frustration without overdoing it was pitch-perfect. The story’s strength lies in its authenticity; there’s no neat wrapping up of the hero’s issues, and the heroine’s journey feels earned, not forced. That said, I did find the secondary characters a bit underdeveloped—the love interest’s best friend, in particular, felt like a missed opportunity for more depth. Pacing is another highlight. The audiobook balances the fast-paced action of hockey games with the slower, more deliberate moments of reflection and growth. The production quality is top-notch, with crisp audio that makes you feel like you’re right there in the arena or the diner where so much of the story unfolds. My only gripe? The ending felt a tad abrupt, as if the final emotional payoff came just a little too quickly after the climax. Still, the raw, unfiltered emotions on display—and the way Suzanne refuses to give her leads the easy way out—make this a romance that lingers long after the credits.
