Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I approached 'Fallen Angels' expecting a period piece, but Coward's dialogue is as fresh and funny today as it must have been in 1925. The narration is a delight, with Bening, Ivey, and Mantegna slipping effortlessly into their roles. Bening's Julia is a perfect blend of sophistication and vulnerability, while Ivey's Jane is a riot as the bubbly, slightly dim-witted friend. Mantegna's Fred is the steady, bemused husband, anchoring the chaos around him. The pacing is swift, with each scene building on the last, leading to a satisfying, if slightly bittersweet, conclusion. My only critique? I wish it were longer! But then again, Coward knew when to leave the audience wanting more.
