Evans nails the balance between bravado and vulnerability, especially in the quieter moments when Liz’s confidence wavers. Tim Paige, meanwhile, gives Cooper a weariness that makes his attraction to Liz feel dangerous—not because he’s a predator, but because he *knows* better and does it anyway. Their back-and-forth in the early scenes is some of the best audiobook flirtation I’ve heard; you can *hear* the smiles in their voices. The production is clean, but not sterile—there’s a lived-in quality to the audio, like you’re eavesdropping on a conversation that’s already half-finished. My only critique? The middle act drags slightly as the characters circle each other post-weekend, and a few of Cooper’s internal monologues veer into over-explaining his guilt. I also wished for more distinct secondary characters; the side cast blends together, making Liz and Cooper’s world feel insular in a way that occasionally strains believability. But the ending? Worth the wait. Ash sticks the landing by making their second chance feel *earned*, not inevitable—a rarity in romance.
