The chemistry between the leads crackles, but it’s the power imbalance that makes it compelling—this isn’t insta-love; it’s a slow burn with a fuse lit by manipulation. That said, the pacing stumbles in the second act. The virtual combat sequences, while visually vivid in description, drag slightly in audio form—you can only listen to so many ‘she parried, he struck’ exchanges before craving more dialogue. And the worldbuilding, while intriguing, feels underdeveloped; I wanted deeper lore on how this hypnosis tech works (or why it’s *only* being used for combat training). Still, the ending delivers a gut-punch twist that reframes the entire story, and the production quality—crisp audio, strategic use of silence—makes it a standout in the romance-fantasy hybrid space.
