About This Audiobook

Julie Soto’s *Forget Me Not* is a romance that refuses to romanticize permanence. It’s for listeners who’ve ever told themselves, ‘Maybe this is enough,’ and then doubted it. The story follows two people—Camille, a pragmatic architect with a zero-tolerance policy for broken promises, and Leo, a freelance musician whose charm masks his inability to commit—who collide in a Parisian café during a rainstorm that feels like fate’s last gasp. Their connection is electric but fleeting, built on stolen moments and unspoken agreements that neither is willing to stretch into something lasting. Soto’s prose is sharp, slicing through the usual tropes of grand gestures and ‘happily ever after’ with a realism that’s both refreshing and a little heartbreaking.

What makes this audiobook stand out is the dual narration by Lauryanne Philippe and Zack Zeudy, whose performances feel like eavesdropping on real conversations. Philippe’s Camille is guarded but vulnerable, her clipped tones sharpening every doubt, while Zeudy’s Leo oozes laid-back charisma, his voice lulling you into overlooking his flaws until it’s too late. The production leans into the intimacy of audio, with subtle ambient sounds—a café hum, rain patter—grounding the story in a tactile reality that makes their chemistry feel immediate, even when it’s clearly doomed.

AudioBook Atlas

I went into *Forget Me Not* expecting another ‘will they, won’t they’ romance with a last-minute grand gesture, and I was pleasantly thrown off. This isn’t a love story that bends reality to fit a happy ending; it’s a story about loving someone exactly as they are, even when they can’t love you the way you deserve. That’s not to say it’s bleak—Soto finds beauty in the cracks of impermanence, and the romance itself is undeniable. The push-and-pull between Camille and Leo is messy, frustrating, and utterly addictive, like watching someone play with fire and not looking away. Lauryanne Philippe and Zack Zeudy are a dream team here. Philippe’s Camille is a masterclass in restrained emotion; you can hear the effort it takes for her to lower her walls, even an inch. Zeudy, on the other hand, nails the infuriating allure of Leo—his voice is warm and effortless, the kind that makes you forgive a lack of follow-through just to keep the good times rolling. That said, the pacing drags slightly in the middle act. There’s a stretch where the conflict feels repetitive, as if the story is stuck in a loop of ‘if they’re so great together, prove it.’ It’s a minor gripe in what’s otherwise a polished, immersive experience. If you’re looking for a romance that feels real rather than idealized, this is your audiobook. Just don’t expect easy answers.
