As a huge fan of dark, twisty stories, I was immediately drawn to Babysitter of the Apocalypse. Vanessa Johansson's narration is top-notch, bringing Vicki's complex emotions and motivations to vivid life. Her voice is expressive, conveying the perfect amount of sass and vulnerability to make Vicki relatable and endearing. The production quality is equally impressive, with crisp sound design and well-judged music choices that enhance the tense, suspenseful atmosphere. What really sets this audiobook apart, however, is its thoughtful exploration of the human psyche in the face of catastrophic trauma. Konstantin's portrayal of Vicki's inner struggle is raw and honest, and I found myself invested in her journey from start to finish. If I have any critiques, it's that the supporting cast could have been fleshed out a bit more - at times, it felt like Vicki was the only character with any real depth. Nevertheless, this is a minor quibble in an otherwise compelling and addictive listen.
