Sandra James-Young's narration brings Evaristo’s intricate tapestry to life with a blend of depth and dynamism. The story itself is both dazzling and sobering—Evaristo doesn't shy away from the brutal realities of slavery but also infuses it with moments of unexpected levity and humanity. However, some might find the pacing a bit uneven at times, as the dense plot can occasionally overwhelm the listener.
