Ian McKellen's portrayal is nothing short of exceptional in ‘Outcast’. As a seasoned narrator, he masterfully captures the raw emotion of this Ice Age narrative, from the joy of companionship to the heart-stopping suspense of peril. His voice lends a hauntingly real quality to the prehistoric world, making the listener feel as if they're living through these trials alongside the characters. The pacing is brisk and engaging, never allowing listeners to tire or lose interest. However, there are moments where the narrative could benefit from more explicit character development, which at times may leave listeners craving deeper insight into their motivations. Nonetheless, for fans of both Pavor's series and McKellen’s work, this audiobook stands out as a must-listen adventure.
