As a reader and editor, I was immediately drawn into the world of City of Ruin, and I found myself completely swept up in the passionate, often fraught romance between Raina and Alexus. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable, and Sylvan and Campbell do a masterful job of conveying the emotional intensity of their relationship. One area where the audiobook excels is in its pacing – Weaks masterfully ramps up the tension and suspense, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats as the story hurtles towards its climactic conclusion. However, at times the supporting cast can feel a bit one-dimensional, with some characters lacking the depth and nuance of the leads.
