Holter Graham’s robust narration anchors this gripping memoir, lending weight to Maurer's harrowing experiences. John Luckadoo takes over for the latter half, their voices perfectly complementing each other like a well-choreographed dance. The story is relentless and compelling, with every mission adding to the build-up of tension that leaves you on the edge of your seat. However, the audiobook occasionally succumbs to overly descriptive passages, which can slow the pacing at times. Still, these moments are rare and don’t detract from the overall experience. 'Damn Lucky' is a must-listen for anyone intrigued by WWII history or the indomitable will of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable odds.
