Her ability to shift between the emotions of the two main characters—sensitive yet detached—is a masterclass in audiobook narration. The story unfolds with an urgency that keeps you on edge, each chapter revealing more about the dark secrets that have shaped these women’s lives. However, at times the narrative can feel slightly overwrought, adding layers upon layers without always ensuring they all resonate equally. Despite this minor critique, Darkrooms remains a compelling listen that will linger long after the last minute has played.
