Marisol Ramirez delivers a powerhouse performance as Nalah, bringing the character’s vulnerability and strength to the forefront. Her deep, resonant voice perfectly captures the urban backdrop and Nalah’s inner turmoil. The audiobook’s pacing is impeccable; it moves seamlessly between action-packed confrontations with rival gangs and quieter moments of emotional introspection. However, some of the more fantastical elements feel a bit too on-the-nose, which occasionally pulls you out of the narrative. Despite this, 'Dealing in Dreams' remains a compelling listen that explores the complexities of teenage life in a way that feels both familiar and fresh.
