About This Audiobook

Groff's writing is as lyrical as it is incisive, rendering the mundane and extraordinary moments of Lotto and Mathilde's life with equal precision. The audiobook's pacing is deliberately slow-burning, allowing the listener to absorb the nuances of the characters' emotions and relationships. While some listeners may find the narrative's focus on the minutiae of Lotto and Mathilde's daily lives to be occasionally meandering, the novel's central themes of love, art, and the masks we wear to conceal our true selves make for a deeply satisfying and thought-provoking listen.

Editor's Review ★★★★

AudioBook Atlas

I went into Fates and Furies expecting a sweeping romance, but what I got was a nuanced and often brutal exploration of marriage and relationships. Narrators Will Damron and Julia Whelan deliver standout performances, with Whelan's steady narration providing a reassuring foundation for Damron's more erratic and emotional portrayals. One of my only criticisms is that the audiobook's pacing can be slow at times, particularly in the novel's latter half. However, even this minor quibble is mitigated by the novel's masterful character development and its thought-provoking exploration of the human condition. Overall, Fates and Furies is a deeply engaging and often haunting listen that will linger in your mind long after the final credits.
