Listening to Nakkiah Lui narrate her own stories is an experience like no other. Her voice carries a depth that enhances the emotional weight of both personal and historical narratives. The pacing is deliberate, allowing listeners ample time to savor each recipe and its significance. One critique I have is how some segments could benefit from more diverse voices for additional perspectives; however, this only serves as an opportunity to appreciate Lui’s singular vision. Miranda Tapsell’s introduction adds a touch of gravitas, setting the stage perfectly for Lui’s intimate storytelling.
