The narration by Lauren Ezzo and Brittany Pressley is nothing short of outstanding; their voices perfectly capture the distinct personalities and emotions of their characters. As an audiobook editor, I was particularly struck by how well these actresses handle the more difficult scenes—genuinely conveying the girls' fears and joys without overselling them. The pacing is just right too; it never drags but also allows for moments of genuine introspection. However, at times, some of the narrative's heavier themes feel a bit rushed. Despite this, 'Girls Like Us' remains a powerful and moving experience that deserves to be heard by anyone interested in well-told stories about growing up and finding one’s place in the world.
