As I listened to Lake of the Ozarks, I found myself swept away by Geist's infectious enthusiasm for the Lake of the Ozarks and its inhabitants. His narrative voice is a perfect blend of humor and vulnerability, making it easy to become completely absorbed in his stories. One of the standout aspects of the audiobook is the way Geist uses his own experiences to explore the intricacies of family relationships and the tensions between tradition and change. However, at times I felt that the pacing could have benefited from a slightly more nuanced exploration of the social and economic changes that were occurring in the 1960s.
