Gareth J Davies’ narration is nothing short of stellar; his deep, resonant voice perfectly captures the intensity of Astrid’s inner turmoil. The pacing is impeccable, balancing tender moments with suspenseful cliffhangers that keep you on the edge of your seat. Yet, it's the raw emotion and vulnerability that Davies infuses into Jørgen’s character that truly bring this audiobook to life. Despite some predictable plot twists, the vivid historical setting and complex characters make for a compelling listen. The only minor critique is that at times, the narrative might feel overly explicit, which could be a turn-off for more conservative listeners. Still, it's an unforgettable journey into the heart of Viking lore.
