As someone who enjoys political thrillers, ‘States of Play’ was a standout experience. Miguel Delaney’s narration is nothing short of mesmerizing—his delivery is confident and unapologetic, mirroring the high-stakes nature of the plot. The story’s exploration of power dynamics and ethical dilemmas is both captivating and challenging. While the pacing can feel brisk at times, leaving little room for breath between intense scenes, this only adds to the tension. My one critique would be the occasional abrupt shifts in narrative focus, which could have benefited from a bit more cohesion. Nonetheless, Delaney’s masterful storytelling makes ‘States of Play’ an audiobook that listeners won’t soon forget.
