As an editor, I was thoroughly charmed by this audiobook, and I think listeners will be too. Mary Jane Wells brings a level of depth and nuance to the narration that elevates the story to new heights. Her voice is warm and engaging, and she has a wonderful sense of comedic timing that perfectly captures the book's lighthearted moments. One of the most compelling aspects of the story is the way MacLean subverts traditional Regency romance tropes, creating a truly unique and engaging narrative arc. My only criticism is that the supporting characters sometimes feel a bit one-dimensional, but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding audiobook.
