As an audiobook editor, I've had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented narrators in the industry, and Everette Plen is certainly one of them. His commitment to bringing Alvin Ho's world to life is evident in every scene, and his performance is both engaging and authentic. What sets this collection apart, however, is its thoughtful exploration of the challenges faced by Asian American kids. Look's portrayal of Alvin's struggles with cultural identity and language barriers are refreshingly honest and relatable. My only critique is that some listeners may find the pacing a bit uneven in the later books, with a few transitional scenes feeling a bit rushed. Still, Plen's narration more than makes up for these minor quibbles, and the overall energy of the collection is infectious.
