Jess Trepanier’s gravelly voice perfectly captures Christine's hardened exterior, while Cheryl May’s smooth timbre brings Jacob’s vulnerability to life. Their dynamic interplay is both compelling and believable, making their struggles feel deeply personal. The pacing is relentless; moments of tension are punctuated by quieter, more reflective scenes that add poignant depth. Despite the intense nature of the story, some characters receive less development than others, which can make certain plot points a bit jarring. Nonetheless, this audiobook is a gripping ride through chaos and survival, leaving you to ponder what true strength looks like in the face of unimaginable odds.
