Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I approached The Covenant of Water with a mix of excitement and trepidation, knowing that Verghese's writing can be dense and immersive. Thankfully, the audiobook format proved to be the perfect way to engage with this sprawling epic. Verghese's narration is smooth and engaging, with a subtle emphasis on the emotional resonance of each scene. One of the standout aspects of the audiobook is its ability to balance multiple storylines, never feeling overwhelming or convoluted. However, I did find some of the supporting character arcs to be underdeveloped, particularly those of the female characters. Nevertheless, this minor quibble is a small price to pay for the sheer scope and ambition of Verghese's vision.
