Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

I was completely swept up in The Ghost Army of World War II, and I think it's because of the way Beyer has woven together the personal stories of the artists, engineers, and soldiers who made up this incredible unit. From the moment I started listening, I was drawn into a world of deception, art, and victory, and I found myself wondering if this story could be true. The audiobook's pacing is expertly handled, with a narrative that balances action, suspense, and poignant moments with ease. One thing that I did find a bit frustrating was the lack of clear context for some of the technical aspects of the Ghost Army's operations. While Beyer does a great job of explaining the creative aspects of the unit's work, I found myself wishing for a bit more background information on the military and strategic context in which they operated. That being said, this is a minor quibble in what's otherwise a fantastic audiobook. With its engaging narrative, memorable characters, and a story that's both fascinating and inspiring, The Ghost Army of World War II is an absolute must-listen for fans of history, art, and World War II.
