As I listened to The September House, I found myself completely absorbed in the world Orlando has created – a world where the boundaries between reality and the supernatural are blurred, and the horrors that lurk within are all too human. Farr's narration is a huge part of this appeal, her voice weaving a spell that's both intimate and unsettling. She brings a level of emotional depth to the story that's nothing short of remarkable, making it easy to become invested in the fates of the characters. If I have any criticisms, it's that the pacing can feel a bit uneven at times – there are moments where the tension threatens to dissipate, only to be expertly rekindled by Orlando's skillful plotting. Nevertheless, this is a minor quibble in what is otherwise a gripping and unforgettable listen.
