As an editor, I went into The Wager of a Lady with a mix of expectations and curiosity. What I got was a gripping romance that effortlessly navigated the treacherous landscape of 19th-century London's high society. Stevie Zimmerman's narration was, hands down, one of the standout elements of this audiobook. She brought a level of nuance and subtlety to the characters that was simply remarkable, and her pacing was masterful in keeping the story hurtling along at breakneck speed. If I have any criticisms, it's that the supporting cast sometimes felt a tad one-dimensional, and I would have loved to see more depth and complexity added to the world-building.
