Caroline Shaffer’s narration is the highlight of this audiobook. Her ability to seamlessly switch between the human and cat characters ensures that you’re fully engaged throughout. The story, while initially centered around Dr. Kate Turner and her veterinary practice, takes a sharp turn when an artist client, Claire Birnham, is found dead. Shaffer’s nuanced delivery makes each character distinct—Claire’s tragic end, her friendliness to cats, and the tension she carries are palpable in her voice. However, there's a pacing issue that occasionally disrupts the flow; some of the cat-related digressions feel slightly out of place. The emotional core of the story is solid, though, with its exploration of grief and unexpected connections making 'Unleashed' a memorable listen.
