Kedl’s recounting of daily battles against the elements, interpersonal conflicts, and the sheer unpredictability of sailing make each moment feel lived-in. The pacing is impeccable, balancing moments of perilous tension with quieter, reflective passages that showcase the bond between the two young men. Despite its sometimes mundane details about navigation and maintenance, it never drags, thanks to the dynamic narration. One minor critique is that some sections could benefit from slightly more dramatic pauses for emphasis, but this is a small quibble in an otherwise stellar audiobook.
