Wined and Died in New Orleans

Amy Melissa Bentley’s narration brings Ellen Byron’s storytelling to life in a way that is both soothing and suspenseful. The narrative flows seamlessly, enhancing the atmospheric setting of New Orleans. Ricki James-Diaz's character development is compelling; she balances her amateur sleuth activities with her love for vintage cookbooks, making her relatable and endearing. However, some scenes feel slightly rushed, particularly when rushing through descriptions that could have added more depth. The pacing is generally well-balanced but there’s a moment in the latter part of the book where the tension feels somewhat stretched thin. Despite this minor critique, “Wined and Died in New Orleans” remains an engaging and enjoyable audiobook for mystery lovers who crave a little Southern charm with their suspense.
