Ghosts: Edith Wharton's Gothic Tales

I've always admired Wharton's ability to dissect society with such acerbic wit, but 'Ghosts' reveals a whole other layer to her talent. The narration by Alison Larkin, Jonathan Epstein, and the rest of the cast is nothing short of exceptional. They navigate Wharton's intricate prose with ease, imbuing each character with a distinct voice that brings the stories to life. The pacing is perfect, allowing the tension to build steadily until it reaches a satisfying crescendo. However, I must admit, I found 'The Eyes' a tad too abstract, even for a Wharton fan like me. But that's a minor quibble in an otherwise outstanding collection. This audiobook is a must-listen for fans of Gothic horror, Wharton enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys a good ghost story with a twist of social critique.
