Editor's Review ★★★★☆

AudioBook Atlas

As I listened to Giovanni's Room, I found myself drawn into the world of 1950s Paris and David's intricate web of relationships. The narration by Matt Bomer and Kevin Young is exceptional, with each actor bringing a unique perspective to the story. I particularly appreciated how they captured David's inner turmoil, conveying the anguish and uncertainty that comes with repressed desire. One thing that struck me as slightly jarring was the transition between David's inner monologues and his external interactions with others; at times, it felt like a slight disconnection between the two narrative threads. Nevertheless, this is a minor quibble in what is otherwise a masterful adaptation. Overall, I highly recommend Giovanni's Room for its thought-provoking exploration of identity, desire, and the human condition. It's a raw, unflinching, and ultimately deeply moving listen.
